Try new products to get ready for Earth Day=20
By Cindy Larson =20

In honor of Earth Day, which is Wednesday, we bring you the following =
information about environmentally friendly products:=20

?Malcolm Rands, the founder of ecostore USA (www.ecostoreUSA.com), a =
company that offers plant-based cleaning products, will be in town to =
tout his company's products.

He'll be at the Meijer store, 5909 Illinois Road, from 5 to 7 p.m. =
Monday to talk about what a carbon footprint is and how to go "green." =
The event is free.

Some of the ecostore products available at Meijer include Laundry =
Liquid, Citrus Spray Cleaner, Dishwasher Liquid, Pure Oxygen Whitener =
and Cream Cleanser.

?Jefferson Pointe shopping center, 4110 W. Jefferson Blvd., is =
sponsoring two events Wednesday:

From 11 a.m. to noon, kids are welcome to Your trash . My treasure, =
where they can create art out of recycled material at the food court.

From 6 to 8 p.m., adults only are invited to the Earth Day Go Green =
presentation, where they can learn ways to reduce waste, prevent =
pollution and save money. Food will be provided, and attendees will get =
a reusable Vera Bradley shopping bag filled with eco-friendly products. =
RSVP for both events by Monday by calling the mall office at 459-1160.

?The manufacturer Lehr is selling a hand-held garden trimmer that uses a =
propane canister (the same kind used to power camp stoves) as its power =
source rather than gasoline.

?Touch 'n Foam MaxFill (www.convenienceproducts.com) can help homeowners =
save energy and reduce their carbon footprint, all for a $5 can. MaxFill =
is made with renewable energy resources, rather than from =
petroleum-based raw materials. The triple-expanding foam sealant seals =
gaps and cracks inside and outside the house.

The following products are available from www.CableOrganizer.com:

?Intermatic Electronic Seven-Day Timer lets you customize when your =
lights come on and off for an entire week. It can even be set to random =
mode, to give your home a more "lived-in" look. Cost: $31.41.

?Leviton Decora Occupancy Sensor Switch is a motion-detector device that =
will switch off the lights when it no longer detects movement in the =
room. Cost: $30.75.

?The Kill A Watt Electricity Power Meter assesses the efficiency of your =
electric appliances. Plug any 115 volt AC electric appliance into the =
Kill A Watt meter and a large LCD display shows the power consumption of =
the appliance by kilowatt-hours. Cost: $29.95.

?PowerCost Monitor from Blue Line Innovations allows you to see the =
amount of electricity your home is using in real time and shows your =
electricity consumption in kilowatt hours, as well as total utility =
costs in dollars and cents. Cost: $134.40.=20
